COPPELIA

Join us for this comic ballet in 3 acts, originally choreographed by Arthur Saint-Léon to the music of Léo Delibes. Coppélia premiered on May 25, 1870 at the Théâtre Impérial l’Opéra, in Paris. Coppelia is an enchanting ballet for the whole family. Hamilton City Ballet’s Coppelia is staged by Max Ratevosian and Melania Pawliw with the participation of students of Hamilton City Ballet, Hamilton Academy of Performing Arts, and guest artists.

Audition fee $25.00.

The Nutcracker is produced by Hamilton Academy of Performing Arts in partnership with Hamilton City Ballet and Hamilton City Ballet Orchestra, directed by Max Ratevosian and Melania Pawliw. The HCBO is conducted by Maestro Mate Szigeti.

Performance dates: December 7 & 8, 2018 at the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre, Mohawk College, Hamilton.

The auditions are for ages 8 to professional for all roles including: Clara, Princess Clara, the Nutcracker, Harlequin Doll, Ballerina Doll, Moor Doll, Party Children, Fritz, Parents, Grandparents, King of Mice, Mice, Angels, Bakers, Spanish, Arabian Dance, Chinese, Russian, Pas-de-trois, Mother Ginger, Clown Children, Snowflakes and Waltz of the Flowers.

For the audition, please bring your ballet attire, soft ballet shoes, pointe shoes (if applicable). Ladies must have their hair in a ballet bun.

Rehearsals will be held every Sunday from September to the performances. Additional rehearsals may be added during the week.

Students are accepted into the Senior Ballet Intensive Program by audition only.

Students may audition by either attending an audition class or submitting a video audition, for out-of-town students.

If a student has missed the audition dates, he or she may audition by appointment only.

Requirements for students attending the audition class: 

• Audition Form– To be filled out prior to the audition class. Please bring a photo in a ballet pose.
• Audition Fee– A $25 fee (non-refundable) to be submitted with the audition form. Cash or certified cheque payable to the Hamilton Academy of Performing Arts
• Ballet Dress Code
  Ladies – leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, pointe shoes, hair in ballet bun.
  Men – black tights, black/white fitted t-shirt, black/white socks and ballet shoes.
• Registration: 11:00 am
• Ballet Class: 11:30 pm – 1:00 pm

Requirements for students submitting a video audition:

• DVD auditions should be between 10 to 15 minutes and must include an introduction with name, age, years of study and places of study.
• The DVD should have some barre, center work, pirouettes, allegro, and pointe work for the girls. Male students should include tour en l’air and grandes pirouettes (if applicable).
• Students must submit an audition form, cheque for $25 payable to Hamilton Academy of Performing Arts, and a photo in a ballet pose.
